Using Kapwing To Enhance School Video Announcements 

For the past 3 school years I have been using a video editing software called Kapwing. It has enhanced the culture of our building by allowing me to create easy, exciting, and engaging video announcements. Before I get into all of the perks of Kapwing let me first start with the role I play at my school.

I have served as the digital literacy and technology specialist for my school grade 3-5. The idea of making announcements was thrown around by me and my administrator and this is how my journey with video announcements began. I started with just doing a one take video and sharing it with the teachers to show in their classrooms. I decided I wanted to explore software that would allow me to add multiple layers to my videos; like music, gifs and text. In my search I found Kapwing and instantly found it to provide all of the perks I was looking for and more.

Some features I've come to love and use daily are royalty music, gifs, the ability to add youtube videos with a link, speeding up videos, a moving zoom feature, many transition options, and the large selection of images and videos that can be added to my work with just a click. The staff and students in my building look forward to what creative features will be on the morning announcements each day. Kapwings features allow me to make video editing and layering so creatively! The announcement videos I make include but are not limited to lunch menu options, birthday shout outs, joke of the day, current events in our building, daily weather reports, and of course a Friday dance party.

Technical issues are bound to happen. What I appreciate about Kapwing is that issues are resolved in a timely manner and the site is always working to make improvements. When the site has an issue I trust it will be resolved quickly.

I have created over 400 videos with Kapwing and I look forward to continuing to make more! I have also used Kapwing to make staff holiday videos, safety videos, sports highlight videos, and vacation recaps. Kapwing has inspired me to be creative with my videos. My school has found the videos I make with Kapwing to not only be entertaining but also incredibly helpful with focused communication that can be shared widespread.
